Hand of Hope: Our First Step Into the Community

A Friday Like No Other
Every Friday at Skyward TVC, we gather together not just as students and staff, but as a community of faith. We sing, we worship, we dance, and we give thanks to God for His blessings on our institution. It is a tradition that sets the tone for everything we do — and on Friday, April 11th, 2025, that tradition took on a powerful new meaning.

For the first time, we stepped beyond our walls and into the streets. We visited the open fields not far from our campus — places where men live without shelter, without food, and without the comfort of knowing where their next meal will come from. We came not with bags of supplies or grand promises, but with something simple: our company, our music, and our hearts.

Introducing: Hand of Hope
Hand of Hope is Skyward TVC's new community outreach programme, born out of our belief that education is not just about what happens inside a classroom. It is about who we become as people, and how we choose to show up for those around us.

Every Friday, as part of our weekly devotion, we intend to venture into the community — identifying hotspots where vulnerable individuals gather, sitting with them, sharing our energy and our faith, and over time, connecting them to opportunities and resources that can change their circumstances.

The name says it all. A hand stretched out in hope. Not pity, but dignity. Not charity alone, but connection.

What We Saw on the Ground
The people we met were our neighbours in the truest sense, living within walking distance of our campus, yet worlds away from the opportunities many of us take for granted. Some had not eaten that day. Some had been sleeping in the open for weeks. Many were young, with skills and dreams, but no pathway forward.
And yet, when our students broke into song and the music started, something shifted. Walls came down. Smiles appeared. People who had been sitting alone stood up and danced. For a few hours on a Friday afternoon, there was laughter in a place that had known very little of it.

Why This Matters to Us
At Skyward TVC, our mission is to produce competent, skilled individuals who are ready to make a real impact in society. Hand of Hope is an extension of that mission, because true impact does not stop at the graduation ceremony.
We believe that our students, by engaging with the most vulnerable in our community, are developing something that no textbook can teach: empathy, resilience, and servant leadership. These are the qualities that will define them not just as professionals, but as human beings.

How You Can Get Involved
We are at the beginning of this journey, and we cannot walk it alone. We are calling on individuals, businesses, churches, NGOs, and fellow institutions to join us.
Here is how you can be a Hand of Hope:
• Donate food, clothing, or household items for distribution during our visits
• Sponsor a meal or a hygiene kit for our community members
• Partner with us as an institution for joint outreach activities
• Volunteer your time or professional skills to mentor and guide community members
• Simply share this story — awareness is the first step to change

Every contribution, no matter how small, becomes a Hand of Hope. Reach out to us through our contacts: 0738130813 or 0768860084 or visit us at our campus in Kitengela, EPZ Jabali Rd

A Closing Word
We did not go to that field on Friday to fix everything. We went because we believe that every person deserves to be seen. Every person deserves to know that someone cares.
We will be back next Friday. And the Friday after that, God willing.
If you have ever wanted to make a difference, not from behind a screen, not through a distant donation, but up close and personally, come walk with us. The Hand of Hope is open, and there is room for yours.
